The Construction Industry as a whole in upstate New York continues to hold steady, outpacing the economy.
The Bonadio Group released its 2008 Contractors State of the Industry Study for upstate New York. The study revealed that despite the challenging state of the economy, most construction companies are making a profit and are optimistic about the future. Many will be turning their attention to profit improvement and optimization of cash flow, which will be especially critical should the overall economy continue to slip.
Other key findings included:
Recruiting and retention of management remains to be a thorny issue for many companies.
Opportunities to further improve profitability appear strong.
